Let's Talk Dance |
If you don't feel the music in your spirit then it cannot be transferred to your audience either. This is a guiding principle of mine developed through using music as my escape from the pain I had suffered in my youth. I took to the stage at 6 years old studying tap, jazz, and ballet. When I was in my teens, I studied at a few dance schools and at one of these I had an instructor who saw my potential and he focused his interest on me. He asked that I tryout for his dance company. But when I tried out, he was concerned because I couldn't follow the choreographed routines as quickly as the other dancers. When they went one way, I would move the opposite. I have since discovered I had developed a learning disability (dyslexia) related to the brain injuries I received at the hands of my foster mother as she hung me upside down by my feet and banged my head against the bathroom floor. Although I was unable to dance as part of a company, I could still excel in dancing solo. I had to find other outlets of expressing through dance what was deep inside in my soul, which has led me to using this talent in bodybuilding and teaching others the art of movement bringing the audience to their feet with standing O's. Because of my history, I believe anyone can be taught to dance as long as you feel it in your soul. I hope to take the lessons of my pain suffered and my natural visual abilities to help you to create and produce a one of a kind show routine. |
